Since Valentine’s day is still more than a week away, I decided to share this awesome recipe of heart-shaped cake with you guys. Not only would this confectionery help you in expressing love to your significant other in a sweet way, but also impart a sense of completeness to your V-day celebration.
Note: Avoid looking for a special pan in the market, because you do not need one! But you must have two basic pans, one 8-inch round and the other 8-inch square.
1. 1 cup of cold milk
2. 1 packet of cake mix (which must be enough for preparing two separate cakes)
3. 1 packet of vanilla flavoured pie filling and instant pudding
4. 1 tub of thawed and whipped topping
5. ¼ cup of powdered sugar
6. ¼ teaspoon of red food colouring
7. Multi-coloured sprinkles and small candies
First, prepare the oven by heating it to a temperature of 176 degrees Celsius (or 350 degrees Fahrenheit). Ready the cake mix as per manufacturer’s instructions given on the packet. Grease and flour the two pans properly, and pour equal amounts of batter into each of them. Bake for as long as has been mentioned in the instructions printed on the cake mix’s packet. After that, bring out the pans and allow them to stand and cool for about 10 minutes.
Pour the cold milk into a medium-sized bowl and add the sugar and vanilla flavoured pudding mix into it. Beat the mixture for 2 minutes and then stir in the food colouring and whipped cream gently.
Now leave the square-shaped cake as it is, but divide the round one into 2 equal halves resembling semi circles. Place each of the halves next to two adjacent sides of the square cake. You may use a small amount of frosting in between for making sure that the pieces hold together. Frost the complete heart shaped cake using the rest of the pudding mixture.
Now comes the part where you will have to decorate your creation. Spread the multi-coloured sprinkles lightly along the edges. You can make use of a piping bag for writing a special message on the top. Try to put in a little bit of creativity and you might even be able to pipe a small heart on top of the yummy delicacy. Serve with heart-shaped candies.
