From the very days of girlhood, most of the brides dream of a multi-tiered wedding cake on their D-day. And since the concept of do-it-yourself has become a fashion these days baking a wedding cake at home has become a style. But for a person who plans of executing the big project to bake such a kind of wedding cake, precision is indefinable. The thought might even be dismissed right at the sight of creation in the bakery showcase. However nowadays, it is said that anything goes well in wedding cakes as long as it’s ethereal grandeur. Aha..so does this mean that you can break the traditional rules?
Let us start with the cake itself. At the beginning, heavy fruitcakes were the trend. Then it is the white cakes that took over and it is since then that they have become traditional. However, now, the white cake with its wonderful white icing is losing its charm. It is the luscious chocolate mousse cake filled up with fresh raspberries that is getting more attention these days. Some of the other surprises may be a buttery rich dacquoise, a 24 carat carrot nut cake or a lemon cheesecake, whatever the groom or bride desires.
And what about the white and black cakes? According to Deborah Feltham of Creative Cakes, this is no more a shocking request for her when it comes to taking orders of wedding cakes in Brisbane. She often gets orders to make white and black cakes decorated with black roses. The frosting is white and the white icing is accentuated with rose or mauve, lavender, peach or whatever color the bride has in her dress.
She has even noticed some more changes in the wedding cakes of the modern brides.
Wishes and desires are being fulfilled in the table tops adorned with the decorations ranging from the nostalgic lace to iridescent glitz. The cakes have cascade of flowers, which are either orange blossoms or sugar pastillages of orchids and butter cream drop icing flowers. However, a beautiful cover-up is also included such as clusters of fresh silk flowers enhanced with lace or satin ribbon loops. Fresh roses are quite often selected, from bright red to pastels, perfect buds to causal older blooms, all reflecting the personality of the bride.
There are even whipped cream frostings that are embellished with bark and dusted with sprinkling of the powdered sugar. The chocolate leaves, dark or white, may be effective with chocolate or fresh roses.
The most favorite ornament of top cake is also being changed with an arch made from the small vine of flowers or refreshing nosegay. Now there are edible moldings of violin, piano, tennis racket or other such unique designed cakes for brides who are inclined to some specific hobbies.
