19 Feb 2016
According to Oriental calendars, the Chinese New Year commenced on 8 February 2016. This means that you have still got enough time to throw a fabulous party at your house and invite your friends and loved ones in the weekend. Since it is the year of the Monkey, you definitely ought to have some good fun with your peeps. However, there are certain things you need to keep in mind while planning a Chinese New Year themed bash:
Consider The Lucky Things
Every Chinese New Year has some lucky things associated with it, and the year of the Monkey is no exception. Speaking of colours, your best bet would be using decorations in shades of white, gold and blue for your party. You can even embellish using crape myrtle or chrysanthemum flowers. The luckiest numbers are 4 and 9, so take these numbers into account while inviting your guests. Make sure you stay away from the colours of pink and red and numbers 2 and 7.
Have a Themed Centerpiece
As you are setting up things to celebrate the Monkey Year, why not incorporate a centrepiece that resembles the creature! The best way to do it is by working the silhouette of a monkey into the centrepiece. Alternatively, you can prepare an arrangement of chrysanthemums and place a monkey cut out from craft paper on it.
Decorate With Lanterns
For imparting a more Oriental touch to your party, try to set up some Chinese lanterns as decorative components. You can either purchase them from the market or make some of your own at home. Make sure they are colourful and of course, beautiful.
Arrange The Food and Drinks
No party can be complete without delicious food and drinks. There are a number of dishes and beverages you can use for hiking up the fun of your Chinese New Year themed bash. Jasmine Green tea and Asian dumplings are great options to serve as appetisers. You can also keep Spiced Tangerine Cocktail for those who are not used to having tea. Prepare some delicious cashew chicken for the main course. As for dessert, nothing can be better than Black Honey Heaven tea or Chinese New Year themed cupcakes.
Do Not Forget The Entertainment
Once everyone is done enjoying a hearty meal, gather around the living room table for some more fun. You can spend the rest of the evening either by playing blackjack or poker, or watching some movies.
