Use fresh flowers on cake rather than sugar flowers to save money
You might be able to save very little amount of money by using fresh flowers over sugar flowers. However, the money saved won’t be that significant because of the health risk that’s involved in using fresh flowers on cake. Most of the fresh flower varieties are poisonous and placing them on cake can make the guests fall sick. Some of the flowers are even sprayed with pesticides and that too is harmful for the health of the guests. There are many bakery shops that do not wash and sanitize the flowers before placing them on the cake. This means the flowers do not qualify the food safety standards. So, it is undoubtedly better to opt for sugar flowers by paying some amount extra.
Don’t let your cake designer know your budget
There are some people who believe that if the bride tells the cake designer about their budget, the designer will charge each and every penny of that budget and won’t give much cake. However, the fact is that most of the cake decorators are basically artists first and businessmen at last. A cake decorator always makes the best cake that they can. And most of these professionals will be giving you more for your money rather than giving you less. In fact, most of the cake decorators basically undercharge. But no matter what, a cake designer must know the budget for designing a custom cake.
Wedding cakes are more expensive than birthday cakes
Cake is a cake and the fee is same for all occasions. The pricing differs in detailing. Generally, the wedding cakes are more elaborate and bigger and so they are charged more than birthday cakes. You can always ask your cake decorator if they basically charge more per serving for the wedding cakes. However, if they do that, they may be able to give you a good reason for it. For instance, if a lot of layers and fillings are added to the cake, the cake in that case will cost more.
